“Harmonies From Their Homelands” music and history
Welcoming Entwyned, three professional musicians presenting a music and history program, a special concert celebrating our country’s 250th birthday. When the explorers and colonists arrived in the Americas, the music of their countries was an integral part of the culture that they brought with them. Each country had its own musical expression, instrumentation, and performance customs. Slaves also brought their distinctive rhythms and music, which has impacted American music to this day. As these diverse populations began their new lives in America, their sounds and expressions began to blend with those from other countries. It was the birth of countless American musical genres. Entwyned will perform period music from the early colonists’ countries and early America. This concert/lecture will also provide relevant historical information and visual images from the times as we learn about how musical imports shaped the American musical landscape. More about Entwyned on their website. Tickets and reservation information available soon. Save the date for this very special program and fundraiser.
