Old Manchester Museum open house
SPECIAL story-telling event at the November 7 open house, with Jon Rosetti presenting stories about the Native Americans of the Manchester Area. Story times at 10:30 and 12:00, with activities for kids and adults in between. Jon will bring artifacts to show, and there are exhibits of the very earliest days of our town. This museum has a new exhibit of old Manchester — dinosaurs and their remains in Buckland, Podunk Americans, and information from Mathias Spiess’s history of Manchester. Permanent exhibits include Manchester industries: Pitkin Glass Works, Cheney Silk Mills, Case Brothers Paper Mills. A small museum store sells copies of maps and local-history items such as books and pamphlets. Our volunteer docents can help with research. Generally open the first Saturday of the month, May through December, from 10:00 to 2:00. Free. Donations welcome.
